LFX Computer Repairs – Terms and Conditions
These terms do not affect your statutory rights.
1. Definitions
1.1 “You”, “Your”, “Customer” refers to the person using our website or services.
1.2 “We”, “Us”, “Our”, “LFX” refers to LFX Computer Repairs, operated by Peter Long, including employees or subcontractors.
1.3 “Site” refers to https://lfx.computer and any associated domains.
1.4 “Services” refers to repair, diagnostic, support, or related services provided.
1.5 “Device” refers to any computer, laptop, or electronic equipment submitted for service.
2. General Terms
2.1 By using our website or services, you agree to these terms.
2.2 These terms are governed by English law.
2.3 We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of any updates.
3. Our Responsibilities
3.1 We will provide services with reasonable care and skill.
3.2 We aim to complete repairs efficiently and professionally.
3.3 We respect customer privacy and confidentiality at all times.
4. Customer Responsibilities
4.1 You are responsible for backing up all data before repair.
4.2 We are not responsible for data loss under any circumstances.
4.3 You must provide any required passwords, licences, or access details when requested.
4.4 An adult must be present during on-site visits where minors are involved.
4.5 You confirm that you have been advised of potential risks involved in repair and accept those risks prior to work commencing.
5. Data & Backup
5.1 Data loss can occur during repair due to hardware or software failure.
5.2 Backup services may be offered but are not guaranteed.
5.3 Cloud-based data (e.g. OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive) may not be included in backups due to technical limitations.
6. Repairs, Risk & Liability
6.1 Pre-existing Condition
Devices may have underlying issues including:
- Overheating
- Wear and tear
- Corrosion or liquid damage
- Previous repairs
These conditions may weaken internal components.
6.2 Disassembly Risk
During inspection and repair, components may fail due to their condition.
This includes (but is not limited to):
- ZIF connectors
- Ribbon cables
- Plastic housings and clips
- Soldered or bonded components
These parts may:
- Break
- Detach
- Fail during handling
6.3 Acceptance of Risk
By proceeding with repair, you acknowledge that:
- Some components may not withstand disassembly
- Additional faults may occur
- The device may not be returned in its original condition
6.4 Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
However:
- We are not liable for failure of pre-existing weakened components
- We are not liable for unavoidable damage during repair
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses
- Where a device has pre-existing faults or deterioration, any failure of components during reasonable disassembly shall not automatically be considered a lack of reasonable care or skill.
7. Estimates & Quotations
7.1 Estimates are approximate until inspection is completed.
7.2 Written quotations are valid for 7 days unless stated otherwise.
7.3 Diagnostic fees may apply to certain systems (e.g. custom or gaming PCs).
7.4 Parts ordered for a repair may incur costs if cancelled.
8. No Fix No Fee
8.1 Applies only where a fault cannot be diagnosed or repaired.
8.2 Does not apply where:
- The customer cancels after diagnosis
- Parts are required
- External factors prevent repair
- Remote support is used
9. Cancellations & Refunds
9.1 Cancellation after disassembly may incur a diagnostic fee.
9.2 Cancellation after partial repair may incur a service charge.
9.3 Refunds are issued to the original payment method only.
9.4 Labour already carried out is non-refundable.
10. Payments
10.1 Payment is due upon completion or collection.
10.2 Accepted methods: bank transfer, debit/credit card.
10.3 Devices not paid for within 30 days may be sold or disposed of to recover costs.
10.4 Any goodwill contributions offered by LFX are made without admission of liability.
11. Collections & Abandoned Devices
11.1 Devices must be collected within 30 days of notification.
11.2 Uncollected devices may be:
- Sold
- Recycled
- Disposed of
12. Remote Support
12.1 Requires a stable internet connection and working hardware.
12.2 Payment must be made in advance.
12.3 Remote services are excluded from “no fix no fee”.
13. Warranty
13.1 Warranty applies only to parts supplied and fitted by LFX.
13.2 Warranty periods vary depending on the component and supplier.
13.3 Labour warranty:
- 14 days (labour only)
- 30 days (with supplied parts)
13.4 Warranty does not cover:
- Software issues
- User damage
- External causes
14. Data Recovery
14.1 Data recovery is chargeable only if successful (unless third-party costs apply).
14.2 Data recovery is not guaranteed.
15. Use of Personal Data
15.1 We comply with UK GDPR and data protection laws.
15.2 Your data is used only for service delivery and business operations.
15.3 We do not sell your data to third parties.
16. Security
16.1 We take reasonable measures to protect your data.
16.2 No system is completely secure, and risks remain.
17. Confidentiality
17.1 All customer data is treated as strictly confidential.
17.2 Data is only accessed where necessary to complete services.
17.3 Data is never shared unless required by law.
18. Disclaimer
We are not responsible for:
- Data loss
- Pre-existing faults worsening
- Manufacturer warranty invalidation
- Loss of income, business, or profits
- Unforeseeable losses
